About SVGMod

Web tools should respect your work.

SVGMod is a collection of lightweight, client-side tools for SVG editing, optimization and frontend asset generation. It exists to make common asset tasks quicker without making file uploads the price of convenience.

Local-first, not upload-first

Every tool works entirely inside your browser. Your SVG files never leave your device. We do not upload, store or log your artwork. This approach protects unpublished designs, client work and internal assets while eliminating the delay of sending files to a remote service.

Modern browsers already provide excellent tools for parsing XML, encoding files and rendering graphics. SVGMod brings those capabilities together in a simple, focused interface.

Built from real frontend work

SVGMod is an independent project built by a frontend engineer for web developers, UI designers and Shopify creators. The toolset comes from recurring production tasks: cleaning exported icons, embedding small assets, adapting colors and preparing frontend-ready files.

Each tool is designed around a single job, with readable output and no account requirement. Heavy optimization work runs in a Web Worker so the interface stays responsive.

How the tools are built and reviewed

SVGMod uses established browser APIs and focused libraries rather than remote conversion services. SVG parsing is handled as XML, path optimization uses SVGO, raster exports are rendered with Canvas, and icon fonts are generated as TrueType outlines. Each tool exposes its important constraints in the interface instead of presenting every conversion as universally lossless.

During development, workflows are checked with representative files: filled and stroked icons, shapes and curves, responsive viewBoxes, transparent images and multi-file batches. Generated downloads are reopened or parsed where the format allows it. Browser behavior can still vary, so we recommend keeping source artwork and reviewing output before production use.

Our editorial approach

Guides are written to explain decisions that surround the tools: when embedding harms caching, why coordinate precision affects rendering, how sprites differ from icon fonts, and what Shopify theme maintainers should test after an asset change. We favor concrete examples, limitations and checklists over rewritten definitions or keyword-targeted filler.

Articles and tool documentation are reviewed against the actual tool behavior and web platform capabilities. When a tool changes, its instructions and limitations should change with it. Advertising helps support the project, but it does not determine tool output or the recommendations in our guides.

Our product principles

  • Privacy by architecture. We do not add a file-upload API and then ask you to trust it. Processing is local.
  • Useful before clever. Clear inputs, visible output and no unnecessary setup.
  • Fast by default. Static pages, minimal client JavaScript and no third-party tool iframes.
  • Original and open. Original interfaces and documentation, built for the open web.
