Frequently asked questions

Which image formats are supported?

Any image format your browser can read as a data URL, including PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and SVG, can be encoded.

Does Base64 make images smaller?

No. Base64 usually increases binary size by about one third. Use it when embedding is more important than payload size, and optimize images first.

Is there a server-side file size limit?

There is no server and therefore no server upload limit. Practical limits depend on available browser memory, so very large images should be resized before encoding.
