How it works

From input to output,
in a few clicks.

See both textual edits and the SVG changes that matter visually. Native XML formatting stabilizes line breaks before an in-browser LCS comparison, while a separate semantic report tracks root geometry, path commands, and presentation colors that can be lost in a wall of markup.

  1. Provide original and modified SVGPaste markup or upload a file on each side. Both documents are parsed and formatted locally before comparison.
  2. Read the line diffReview added, removed, and unchanged context lines with line numbers and totals. A native LCS algorithm avoids external diff services.
  3. Check semantic and visual changesInspect root dimensions, path d values, fill and stroke summaries, and isolated side-by-side previews. Copy the prefixed diff text when needed.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the SVG files formatted first?

Consistent XML indentation makes structural line comparison useful when one source is minified and the other is not. Attribute order and path command contents are preserved; formatting is used for the diff, not written back to either input.

What does the semantic summary include?

It compares root viewBox, width, and height attributes, path counts and d values, and fill or stroke values from presentation attributes and inline styles. It does not compute full CSS cascade, raster pixel differences, or animation-state differences.

How are paths matched?

Paths with IDs are matched by ID and occurrence, while paths without IDs are matched by document order. Changed, added, and removed entries include their actual before and after d values so command edits remain visible.

Can very large files freeze the diff?

The tool rejects oversized sources and comparisons whose line-count matrix exceeds a fixed memory and work budget. This prevents quadratic LCS work from blocking the browser tab; reduce or split very large documents before comparing them.
